One loud bird in the whole bunch

So I have a loud hen. She is obnoxious. It's not just her egg laying song she is now doing it to get attention. I am wondering if in my neighborhood I won't start getting complaints.

I don't know if I should keep her. I live in a very close to your neighbors place and I feel like she is gonna blow this gig for me. I can by law have 2 or 3, not sure, hens and I have 4. If i get a complaint, can the city make me get rid of all my birds or just the ones that push me over the limit?

i'm not sure, but i can't have ANY and i have 11 now (only 2 are laying). i plan to give 3 more away so my numbers will be down to 8 hens. but one of the reasons i have more than i want is to weed out the loud ones. i personally love loud hens, i think they're cute. but with your situation (and mine) i would be a bit nervous. how close (in relationship) are you to your neighbors? could you ask if they've heard your loud girl? and if so, does it bother them? by coming to them 1st, it brings the subject out in the open so hopefully if there IS a problem and YOU are the one bringing it up, they will probably come right out and tell you. good luck and let us know how it goes!

I would do the same thing if I was at all concerned. I would just ask all of the neighbors within ear shot if they hear your chickens and are bothered by them. They may like it or may not even notice. By doing this, if it does bother them, they will just tell you (hopefully) instead of complainning to law enforcement and reduce the chances of neighborly conflicts. I'm sure unless they have chickens of their own they don't even know what the rules are about having them. I will pray for you that they are welcoming of you and your girls!
