I am wondering if these two symptoms are related. One of my hens is not laying like the others and she has a bald spot on her chest. She seems to be acting normal with these 2 exceptions. Any ideas?

Has she been sitting around or poking around in good hiding places a lot? Has she been sitting in the nestbox? Because broody hens often pulll out the feathers on thier stomach/chest to improve the conduction of body heat to thier eggs. Maybe she is broody.

BROODY! At least from my limited experience.

My silkie did the same thing. I can't get her to stop sitting in an empty nesting box - and it has been at least 3 weeks. It is quite pitiful.

Feel her bare chest. It is HOT? My girl feels like she has a fever. She's all warmed up to sit on those eggs and be a good momma.

UPDATE: My girl is FINALLY off of her nest! Yippee! She has been in her bucket for about a month trying to hatch pine shavings! I opened their coop up this morning and there she was, standing on the roosting platform! I am soooooo happy! She can play with her sisters outside now.
