Ok I read some books but right now all chicken duck and turkey infor is getting mixxed up..

My runt which hatched 48 hours ago he (i will call it cause its a toss up) was doing good this AM..

However since it was hatched if you held him to your ear u could hear his lungs. I am pretty sure its his lungs it was not a heart beat. The others i picked em up one by one and they dont sound the same.. Anyways the little tyke is gasping away. My temp is good all the others are running eating and drinking not huddled they are scattered about . He is kinda hunched over forward gasping for air..I also noticed he cannot cheep..he moves a tad stands opens his eyes some. I gave him sugar water got some down him but he still hunches over. His walking also is unsteady ...

I also cannot get these little ones to eat mushed egg or even cottage cheese my chickens ate the mess out of it. The others are eating turkey starter and drinking well. I will say this little one i dipped beak but i have never seen him eat anything..

Is their anything else I can do to perk the little fellow up...I so want him to make it. He was my little dude in the repaired shell ..

EDIT: they also have electrolyes in their water..turkey starter is 28% but again i havent seen this one eat yet all the others peck at the starter but turn the beaks up to muched egg and also cottage cheese. this helped my shipped chicks out so much the reason i was offering it to them..any idea how to turn em on to it?

Try crushing a bit of the starter into dust and stir into water until some is dissolved and the remainder settles out then use eye dropper to suck up clearest portion of solution to use when administering a drop at a time into slightly opened beak along one side or other (need it to swallow not drown). This will provide a bit of nutrition and will keep hydrated. These little guys, when puny shortly after hatch, tend to fade pretty rapidly if they don't improve rapidly.

As for the rest. Go with "moving" protein (live meal worms/small moths) to augment diet. Lower a fluttering moth, one wing between your fingers, down in front of them, for example.

Hope the puny one perks up!
