We have a flock of 14 geese. Back in spring, when they were hatching goslings, one of the big males got repeatedly run out of the flock. The rest would gang up on him and keep him at a distance. For a while, he orbited the geese and then one day he started to orbit the ducks. Before long, he was king of the ducks and despite our attempts to keep him out, he now goes into the duck house at night (the geese stay outside). This seemed OK, as he is quite watchful and defends the ducks when the need arises. But now he seems to have a girlfriend; he has paired up with a Pekin and they go everywhere together. Now I'm wondering if this is going to be a problem when spring fever arrives.

Never having had ducks or geese, I can't answer your question but did want to say that's really a pretty cute story.

No problem unless you have a problem with your goose mating with one of your pekins, One of my Muscovy ducks hatched out and Embden gander over 7 yrs ago, they were inseparable as mama and baby then when he became a teenager he became her defender against anything he felt was a threat, mostly the other Muscovy's she loved him too. then they went from mom and son to a pair with mating. I didn't ever have a problem with it but some would. So if your okay with their relationship then leave them to it. He may feel the need to keep the other drakes and ganders at bay but other than that being normal that should be it. No babies can come from the union.
