I have 3 pullets (2 w. leghorns approx ages 20 wks and 14 wks) and one w.leghorn/araucana mix (approx 16 wks, has hardly noticeable comb and blue legs). They are STILL very skittish even after I have had them since May 4th (10 weeks now). I am afraid of handling them because 1) I don't know how to and 2) they're almost impossible to catch. When I enter their small run, they flee and if I attempt to catch one, they jump and fly around and get very upset, hitting the coop and fence and each other to get away, and I'm afraid they will get hurt. I know I MUST be able to handle them so I can check their health and for problems like parasites. How do I catch and handle my girls?

White leghorns are the BEST CHICKEN EVER. That being said, good luck catching them. At that age they have devoloped the flight instincts that are engraved on the brain. Grab them at night on their roost if you need to check them.

While sitting give them treats from your hand to have them get used to you for a few weeks. See if that helps.

Wish ya the best.
