question... I have 6 hens and they have always stayed together while running free in the yard. now i have one that has been staying in the coop and just sitting on eggs. I have no rooster and wanted to know if this is a concern? any help is much appreciated...

She is most likely broody. If she looks flat like a pancake, makes weird sounds when you go near her, and if she sits on the eggs ALL day, then she's broody.

If you have no rooster, there is no point of letting her sit on eggs. The eggs won't hatch.

If you want chicks, buy/get some fertile eggs (craigslist, ebay. etc.).
If you don't want chicks, try to "break" her broodiness.

Thank you for the information. And the link to break a broody hen...👍🏼. Much appreciated

Yes, it sounds like you've got a broody.

This is the broody breaker I made when my girl went broody before we could finish the new, larger coop.
