One week old silkie chick with eye problems

I have a one week old Silkie chicken with very gunky eyes. He/she seems to have issues seeing and generally keeps to himself in a corner. I have tried rinsing his eyes daily with saline solution, but it doesn’t seem to help much. He came out of his egg like this and just doesn’t seem to get better. What can I do? The other chicks have no issues.

You're doing what I'd have done by rinsing it with the saline solution.

I can't imagine it could have been hatched with an eye infection, but perhaps Terramycin would help. It's an ointment for eye infections. I'd get a small tube of it and smear some over its eyes and see if in a day or two that doesn't help.

I'd also be giving them some vitamin water every other day as if it is some type of infection, it needs help fighting it. We use either Nutra Drench or Poultry Cell.

I sure hope your little silkie gets better!
