only one baby!

@Lac good luck =/ Its always sad to lose one!

I have a swedish duckling that decided to come early..pipped with blood I left it alone then it freed its head and wings stayed that way for 3 days I kept it damp applied triple anitbiotic cream to the yolk sac and membrane..the third day it was draggin the shell behind it so I detached it ,yolk was asorbed membrane was dried to it so I washed it up a bit and put it back in to dry. . They were shipped eggs its hatch mate need help it pipped right in the center got its beak out crying for 8 hrs..this was 2 days after the first. It was very malpositioned ...I had 4 eggs go into lockdown one had quit probably the last week one was completely upside down and must have drowned. I always to eggtopsey to figure out what I could do different if anything...

Ohh sorry, I probably won't of used triple antibotics though... Send me the pic, I could probably tell you what's going on and assist in making changes so that you have a better hatching rate..

he/she is fine now pulled through it was a smaller egg cutest little black Swedish duckling. but i really did give it TLC sugar water/ vitamins every 2-4 hrs for the first day it was detached was very week. (i have an infant so i am up anyway) ...I had read on here assisted hatching 101 by sally sunshine and a few other articles she suggested it..keep bacteria out and membrane... horrible saddle shaped air cell in the second survivor who was malpoistioned and really big compared to the first one....the one that drown also had bad saddle shape, the one that quit had normal shape air cell. I didn't take pics i have two forced air chinese yellow incubators located in my basement. the air humidity is almost 50 % so i am fairly certain that the humidity was right . I have a dehumidifier set to run at 55% and it says it is 50%to 53%. I have checked temp of the incubators several times with instant read and a regular therm. Do you think with shipped eggs I should try hatching upright and not laying down ? I have several chickens brooding down there i am thinking the first one may have heard them and thought time to come out...

The babies were normal. Not sticky if anything a little dry?? both babies that survived I had to help they would pip and start to zip then nothing. The babies are both doing great now. waiting on the weekend I have another 6 eggs due to hatch. I hatched geese in the bator last year, no problems and dozens of chicks. Could they just be weak maybe need to change how I feed the parents or add some type of vitamins to their meals.
