Oops at the auction

I LOVE auctions and I have learned to sit a few seats over from hubby so he can't grab my ticket before I get it up...

Great looking baby though!!!

This is deffinetly the time to buy steers/veil calves. The prices are way down. You probably got him for under 200 right?
Good Luck with him....are you going to invite us all over for a cookout this fall

Its adorable!

I can totally relate. My DH is the reason I have 2 Blue Swedish ducks. When they came up, I bid on them once or twice, then quit and wasn't paying attention to the rest of the bidding. DH leans over and says put $10.50 down on your card (I try to keep track of what I spend). I said, Huh? He says, I bid on them for you, you wanted them right? I quit bidding and he kept nodding to the auctioneer and ended up winning them. Gotta watch those spouses!!

Good age. If he isn't already he could be weaned if eating hay & grain (if your going to feed grain) good.

Come visit us at and we can answer any questions or just talk cow!

Well, This little guy cost us all of $75. He is not very at home yet. We started him off in the Nigerian pen and seems to be OK with them. He will end up with the sheep and donkeys eventually. They told us that he was weened, but I am not so sure of that. He does eat grain rations and the calf starter OK, but I think we are going to give him a little milk replacer and see how he does. And yes we are going to have to join Backyard Cows now also!

Here they get that for a new calf.

There are things in cattle grain that sheep can not have, copper, iron, urea (this one can easily be avoided) so you may want to reconsider putting him with the sheep or watch extremely close what is in the feed you give him.

If he is just weaned and with the upset of the move it may take him a bit to eat normally but, giving him some milk replacer won't hurt him a bit.

See you on
