Open Wound on Comb

My hen has a cut on her comb that is bleeding very profusely. It is near the base and is about midway through. Does anyone have any ideas on how to close up the wound and stop her bleeding? Is there risk of infection? So far I put a bit of vaseline on it to stop the blood a bit. Was that a good move?

Do you have a styptic powder? Cornstarch or flour will work in a pinch (just try not to get it in her nostrils).

Wipe off the Vaseline, put a little flour or corn starch on it, then keep gentle pressure on it til it stops.
