In the Brooder
Would like opinions on Silkie hens. We would like to get 2 for our daughter's 13th birthday. Are they good layers? What is their temperament? Any and all opinions are apprecaited.

Thank you! I am for sure not look Iooking for show quality, just for pets. I appreciate your advice.Yeah definately not a heavy egg layer. Most of mine quit for the winter. Hens are pricey. I have a few for sale and they come from show lines. I don't sell for any less than $100 but if you dont mind pet quality, you can find them for much cheaper. They are as friendly as they come tho and highly recommend them for kids.
I loe your profile picture! it is so cute.Silkies are great. Can be very sweet. They can be good layers until they go broody. But some are poor layers. Hens are hard to come by and expensive due to that.
