Opossum or Raccoon

I feel super stupid posting this, but I can’t find info anywhere if opossums will eat your chicken FEED. I know raccoons will. Does anyone know?

Don’t feel stupid for asking a question, if we are honest about it there are things that each of us don’t know. Yes opossums will eat grain including various kinds of animal feeds.

I agree. Opossums are scavengers and will enjoy a meal of chicken feed if left where they can get to it. Keep your feed in a secure run with your chickens and the wild critters won't be a problem.

They will also eat rat bait. I had a rat infested coop. When I started tearing out the ceiling and walls, dozens of rats of all sizes poured out. I put rat baits out. I had some traps but wasn't catching many so I put out some poison baits because I was seeing rats in the barn which is behind the coops. Whole chunks of rat baits were disappearing and I finally put up a camera. After doing some research I found they are immune to the poison. I had the baits in rat bait boxes. The bait boxes were torn up and some places I put baits the possum got to. I bought some more bait boxes and put them where only the rats can get to them. I haven't seen any rats in quite awhile and the poisons have stayed intact.
