I hate to admit this and it's not funny, but I just sat on one of my three hens. I have had them for around six months and they have been getting more comfortable with me. I decided today to sit down on the steps and feed them some treats. They made a mad dash for me like usual only one of then came from behind as I was 80% of the way down. She screamed and limped away. She is not limping now, but won't get within 10 feet of me, treat or no treat. I guess I won't really know how bad I squished her will I? Is there anything I need to look for?

I'm sure she is OK, just a little offended that you would do that to her.

Since she got up and ran off, has stopped limping already and is not laying in a corner being quiet and still, I doubt there was any serious injury.
Just watch to make sure the limp does not come back and she is active and alert.
She will warm up to you again in a day or so, just keep the treats flowing!

For what it is worth, all too often I step on chicken and kitty toes - not on purpose but they tend to get under foot without warning and then they scream when I step on them (understandably!). If they do limp a little, it usually clears up within hours and they are back to begging within a day. Hopefully your hen is fine and will come around quickly.

Update: all seems well. Unbelievable considering I weigh 265 pounds and she weighs about 4. I guess we were both lucky this time.
