Hi-
I noticed twice this week that some of my eggs (I have three layers) had splotches of orange-y stuff on the outside. It was slightly sticky- the shavings stuck to it. I know that sometimes you'll get a little poop on the eggs, but this is something I've never seen before. Does this sound familiar to anyone? My hens are behaving exactly as they usually do; they grumble in the morning until I let them out, then they sprint out into the yard to scratch around all day. When I feed them in the evenings, they are as crazy about food as usual and happily go back into the coop.
I'm just wondering if this is something I should be concerned about. Thoughts?
