Orange peels

Will feeding my chickens orange peels harm them; will they even eat them?

I've given my chicks oranges cut in half, they ate every morsel except for the peels.

Nope! They will love the oranges!

Okay through a lot of researching I discovered that they will not harm the birds but that they normally do not eat them because they are so tough. I found a forum where the person discusses putting the peels and other large leftovers in a food processor. I think this would work well with egg shells as well.
