My parents are outside planting trees for a new orchard! Any suggestions on how to keep afides out from our trees and how to keep alive?

I make this mixture every year so that the moths are attracted to the mixture before they lay their eggs in the blossoms. It is important that you hang this mixture in the tree before the first blossom.
Drill 1/2” hole into a milk jug, leave the cap off, and hang in the tree.
Mix together:
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup sugar
1/2 can beer
1 quart water.

Empty as the container fills with bugs and refill.
