I am not naming the place I ordered from. I will wait till all is done. My main worry is
I see the shipping notice which has me concerned. Chicks shipped out on Tuesday evening and according to
shipping notice won't arrive till Saturday at Post Office. That seems like a long time in my book. Never bought
chicks by mail before. I hope they don't suffer or die. Thoughts?

Oh man, is it just the USPS being behind from the covid situation? I ordered some plants and they got caught up in delays, luckily just a day or 2 behind schedule. Sending prayers that they arrive ahead of schedule ❤

Yes, shipping is even trickier now, with USPS staffing issues. :fl !
Make sure to visit or call your local post office tomorrow first thing, and let them know that you are waiting for chicks, and will drive to get them if that's a better option this week.
Have your brooder all set up and running now! Check the temperature right under the heat lamp, or make sure the underside of the brooder plate is comfortably warm, not too hot.
They may certainly arrive tomorrow, I hope so!
Five weeks ago, my Cackle order arrived within 24 hours, a record for speed! Then, two weeks ago, same hatchery, same day of the week, they came 72 hours after shipping! Considering their long time in that box, we only lost two out of eighteen chicks, because they were very well packed, with a heat pack. I was very anxious over that order!!!

Great idea. Yes call! You may have to pick them up from a larger facility the day before but it will be worth it

Lately I've noticed the Post Office predicting longer times for packages--but the packages sometimes arrive sooner that they predict. So there's a chance your chicks may arrive sooner.

I think baby chicks do get a bit of special handling--maybe they go on the trucks and planes first--but the delivery predictions do notseem to reflect that.

Also, if you check tracking and find that your chicks are "out for delivery," do telephone your local post office before you panic. I've picked up chicks that were out for delivery (according to the computer) but they were really sitting in the post office waiting for me.

Always contact the post office before they are due to arrive! Showing a real interest and concern, and a willingness to pick them up at a location that means faster arrival, is worth it!
Three times over the years I've been called and picked the chicks up at an earlier location, rather than waiting for them to come to the nearest post office. The folks at the post office don't like having dead chicks either...
