I have been reading lots of these posts but this is my first time posting!
I ordered my self 20 white Rock chick's two weeks ago and there all good and growing, I am wondering if these white rocks are the same as Cornish x? I am in Ontario Canada and got them from millpond hatchery...they are saying that this is the bird all the producers use and should be ready to butcher at 8 to 10 weeks. Anyone have any insight?

White Rocks (white Plymouth Rocks) are not the same as a Cornish X.

With that said, I went on their website and it looks like they call their meat birds White Rocks. Around here if somebody says they have White Rocks, they are a brown egg layer. They also may be similar to what producers use but probably not exactly. Post some pics up.

I will try to get a better picture showing there size later. Would be a bonus if I could keep a few for egg laying but I am not sure if it's to late since I always have food available for them.

Now that they are two weeks old, it's time to start limiting feed. Make feed accessible during the day, but don't give them any at night time. Once they are about six weeks old, they will need to be limited to 3 feedings a day. It's important that they get encouragement to move around as well. They tend to sit near the food and water and not move around as much as other breeds. Keep the food and the water as far apart as you can to keep them moving. With a good feeding and management strategy, it is possible to keep these birds as layers.
