What are my chances if I order 10 chicks straight run? I don't want to be overrun with chicks, but I want to make sure I get a good mix of sexes, preferably 2 males and 6 or so females that are 'keepers'. Any tips? Should I get more?

Order a certain number of roos and a certain number of hens or you will end up with your numbers flipped with a SR. I ordered 6 SR and ended up with 6 roos. Thankfully I had ordered all of the others as pullets.

I would if they weren't bantams. Can't be sold as sexed

That's why I'm asking

There are hatcheries that sell bantams sexed you may have to do a little searching but it would be worth it. Change your subject to Want hatchery that sells sexed bantams. You have to edit your original post to edit the subject line in case you are wondering.

oh, bantams are never sexed. good gravy. you'll get plenty of boys for sure, just because it's the nature of the beast.

you'll just have to bite the bullet if you go with a hatchery then. with only ten, your chances are good that you could get ten males or you could get ten females. you never know. you'll just have to either go for it or buy started birds from someone.

Okay, so I ordered 15 instead, and took off my EE since I've got eggs of those anyway. Of course my luck the eggs will all hatch roos like they did last time I got them, but oh well!!

I also got 10 crested assortment, but that's purely for entertainment value

Wish me luck!!
