I just ordered 14 ducks from eFowl and 26 chicks from chickensforbackyards!! I'm very excited about the order, but I was wondering if anyone else had ordered from there places and what their opinions were. Also, how do they ship the chicks and do they send them to the post office for us to pick up and will the post office call or will we have to call ahead of time and ask them to call us when they get our order?

usually all hatcheries have Good and Bad reviews. They usually ship chicks in a box with bedding material and some hatcheries use heating pads to keep the chicks warm.I don't know anything about your hatchery so I don't know if they ship with heat or not. you can ask them. The post office will call you when the chicks arrive. I've not had to call the post myself. I believe instructions are on the chick box for the post to call. Again all this depends on the hatchery. Some hatcheries give the option to order things that help the chicks when they arrive and are shipped with the chiicks. Like SAVE a Chick electrolytes and Grow gel and vitamin packs. These options are usually given before check out and are by the area you mark for vaccination. The price is usually very minimal.Bigger hatcheries only charge about.50 cents for vaccines. But all this depends on what YOUR specific hatchery does. Some give a free bonus chick as well in the sex of your order.Go to your hatcheries website and read up on what they offer.Sorry I couldn't be more help.Maybe someone who uses them can answer better. congratulations on your new chicks! post lots of pictures when they arrive!!
