So this morning I got up to let my ducks out because they were freaking out and once out they ran over to the front fence and
were quacking and running back and forth. So I walked over to see what their issue was and I hear peeping from the ditch. My ditch is filled with irises so I couldn't see anything but I could hear loud peeping. So I walked outside the fence and crawled through the irises and found a mallard duckling. I scooped it up and as I was walking back to the gate I heard peeping from the other side of the driveway in that ditch. Crawl again through the irises and find another duckling.

So since I knew where a mama duck had been nesting I took the ducklings through the field across the street to where the nest was. Mama duck was gone, all eggs were hatched, and no sign of any other ducklings. I took the dogs out and we combed the field looking for any sign of lost ducklings or mama duck but found nothing.

Since the ducklings were cold I took them and put them in with my lone hatchling. Not the best solution but I only have one brooder so they had to deal. Thankfully even though Apple is a week older she was accepting of her new friends. I called the rehabber but they are full of baby ducks and can't take any more. They told me just to keep them (weird I know).

So now I have 3 ducklings.

I have never found abandoned wild ducklings before but I have heard stories of people who did. Most of the time they just raised them with their other ducks. Being wild ducks they will be able to fly when they are adults but if they are raised with your ducks and are bonded to your ducks they may just stay and be happy as can be with their friends.
