Orpington bantams

Sounds good! What is your experience with their lifespan?
Mixed. The longest 8 years but lost a couple much earlier at 4 years. I started out with only 4 and have added over the years, but keep my flock small. They are a heavy breed, you will need to keep roost bars low and watch giving too many treats/snacks. They are VERY cold hardy. 10 degrees is nothing to them, but in the summer you have to be careful of heat stroke. They go broody often.

Hi all,
Does anyone have orpington bantams and if so, do you recommend them, what are they like?
Hi! I have them and would highly recommend having them. They are sweet, beautiful and my favorite. I cannot stress enough how lovely they are. They are not usually noisy, have feathered feet and are very manageable.great for children too. Their eggs are a bit smaller if that matters to you.

Can I ask where you got them and did you get chicks or hatch them from hatching eggs?
