Orpington Broodiness

This is just my experience but my lavender orpingtons are my only breed that has never gone broody, however, they are only two years old. In general, they are also my most gentle chickens amongst the flock and also to their humans. Not sure if this is the experience of others but I’ve also heard buff orpingtons are more likely to go broody? Who knows.

By the way, your pfp is beautiful!! I've always loved lavender orps!

This is off topic and you may not care, but two out of four of my lavenders have the shredded feather gene - seems to be somewhat common. It hasn’t caused any issues really, just looks different and sometimes they look a little ragged once the feathers age. 😄 still beautiful though!

thank you! I also like your profile pic. I want to raise lavender Orpingtons as show birds because they are pretty. I don't breed chickens so I don't want them to be super broody.
