It's creeping up on 3 months for these two and so I thought I would get a few pictures and some video (and I say that like I'm not always taking stupid pictures and videos of them anyway >.>) of what we're up to here!

So here they are in their favorite place: mom's shoulders.

Osiris can see my mom across the room and my mom is The Great Spoiler Of Peafowl (and she calls HERSELF their grandma... guess she's figured out they are the only grandkids she will get from me!). She's been teaching them to fly up to her forearm when she holds it out. We just designed a sheath for my forearm so that when they get bigger I will have some protection from their nails. Right now they are small enough that filing their nails reduces the scratches... but I don't think I want to or even could properly file a fully grown pea's nails even though they hold still for it. I will get some pictures of the arm guard, and when I get to it, my shoulder guard!

But for now... here's my mom calling Osiris.

And again:

And jumping to my shoulder... she usually sits there while I walk around doing stuff and takes a nap on my chest when I settle down for the night, but she decided since I was cutting up squash for dinner she was going to hop onto my cutting board and see what was up. Luckily I managed to grab the squash and put it in the pan before she hopped down!

I don't know what I am going to do with myself when I move them out to the farm. My mom thinks THEY will be the ones crying about being lost because they can't see me, but it will probably be me saying WHEEEEEEEEP WHEEEEEP WHEEEEEEEEEP instead.

That is soooo awesome! I hope to have some that tame someday... I only had one hatch this year and left it with the chicken hen who hatched it so it wouldn't be all alone. And mama chicken is very defensive of 'her' baby!

GREAT videos! Your love of them & the hard work you've put into them really shows. That's a good idea about the arm guard. I'm at work today with two sore fingers from accidental pecks while I was feeding some elbow macaroni to mine yesterday. I work with mine everyday & they are getting steadily tamer - wish I could keep them in the house but have 2 dogs & a cat who would have something to say about that!
