okay so today I noticed one of my chicks pinkie toes is curled, it definitly wasn't like this when it was born nor through its first few weeks, it was born on the 30th of Dec. can cramped space in the brooder cause this, and would I still be able to breed with the chick?

From my experience crooked toes can be genetic. I've had crooked toed hens produce crooked toes offspring. I cull heavily for it now, but still get some on rare occasions.

They're usually not born with it. It develops as they grow, usually around the 4th-5th week for some reason.
that doesn't seem right, I have a rooster who was born with curled pinkie toes due to lack of protein, it was born and raised like that. every case of curled toes has to be born with, which is why I'm so curious as to why it's only just now happened. I've never even heard of crooked toes happening after hatching.

Mine have almost always shown up later. And the majority of the time its just with my Coronation Sussex. And all my adults get the same feed and all the chicks get the same feed.

that just doesn't sound right and everyone that I asked agrees, yours must be heriditary. and also there are many causes of later crooked toes which I don't have the conditions to produce.
