1 Week old Roasters. Non-medicated food. 90 Degrees brooder temp. Any ideas?

I just dispatched my first ever batch of cornish x.,

so I am not an expert by any means. However, mine looked like that too.

They start looking really ugly as their feathers come in,

almost like they are out growing their down and the feathers don't come in fast enough. Since I don't have any grass to speak of in my yard, they stayed on pine shavings, as I tried to keep the ground beneath them dry. I have seen pictures on here somewhere, where the chickens don't seem to have a bare looking underside when they were on grass. I think that since mine mostly sat, their bellies pretty much stay that way.

Fewer feathers to pluck?

less to pluck! love it!

Yes the belly's look like they are rubbing raw. I dont know what to think.

Is it rubbed raw or wet? That also looks like a wet belly. You get all that fluff wet and you can see major skin.

The feathers (fluff) are hard and crusty. poor guys...... i change the bedding every day.
