Hi friends,
Im new here as a poster but has been using this site since March for our turkeys. We bought 3 as poults 2 broad breasted and 1 bronze, one hen each. Our bronze hen started laying eggs last month and would lay 2 a day sometimes. Our other broad brested started laying a little over a week ago. Long story short our little Cheryl must have layed two early this morning but the shell wasn't fully formed, it was super soft and one didn't appear to have a yoke. Any advice or help is appreciated!!

What are you feeding and are you providing oyster shell free choice?

We give them scratch grains and all flock pellets. They free range around the yard and we give them apples and other veggie scraps.

All flock is an acceptable feed but must be supplemented with free choice oyster shell for laying birds. It has too low a calcium content for laying hens if not supplemented.

Limit the scratch as it is candy to them and is a poor quality feed that they will choose over the proper nutritional feed.
