Happy Sunday everyone! It's a been a lovely sunny day in Ireland (nice change) and our Daisybelle decided to lay her first egg.

We had no idea it was coming, no indication until today. None of the usual behaviours I've read about online, no swatting, wattle and comb are still pink, no nesting or any interest in the nest box.

Today though she was very vocal and separating from the others. I was cleaning out the coop and she was eager to get in. (Talk about convenient timing)

We stopped what we were doing and let her in. There was a lot of banging and scratching and then silence. Approx 20 minutes she marched out singing the song of her people to let us all know she had done it.

Our first tiny egg. We're so happy and weirdly proud of her 🥰

Thanks all! Well she's made a liar of me. The boyfriend found another egg in the shed, identical to this one. 🙀 we've searched the garden, there doesn't seem to be anymore.

Congrats! What a beautiful egg! What breed is she?
She's a Daisybelle. Cross between a Sussex paternal with a Barred Plymouth maternal.

This is the noisey lady in question.

Love the name Daisybelle. :)
That's the breed, isn't a beautiful name for a breed. Her chest is covered in hearts a d she is honestly the sweetest thing ever. Obsessed with food. (Much like myself) 🤣

We went with a theme of food (I know, bold) so her name is Tuscan, her sisters are Tikka and Tandoori
