We finally got our first egg! Our chickens are Buff Orpingtons. They were 22 weeks and 1 day. Two of our grandkids were staying with us for a few days. We were going to look for eggs every hour or even less. They were so excited. A particular hen was singing the egg song for a few days and was frequently going back and forth from one of the nesting boxes. The kids were going home in a couple of hours. Then Papa took them back for one last look and low and behold there was a small egg. You go girl! Thanks for making our day while the kids were still here. We have six more hens. We got them all the same day. I love my chickens. This is all new for us. My grandmother raised chickens and sold eggs to the public. It has brought back so many wonderful memories. I am so thankful to my wonderful husband who has built the coop for me and loves them too. I am not sure he would use those words but his envolvement speaks volumes to me. I am so thankful for all of his help.
