Our first EGG!!!!

I looked for one yesterday because three of my chickens came running out of the bushes after doing a very big chicken Bock!. Totally adult chicken Bock Bock! I thought something was either after them or someone had just laid an egg. Never saw critter run,
I searched the bushes and never found an egg but that doesn't mean she didn't lay one yesterday.
I was afraid I'd have a problem that I wouldn't lay in the nesting boxes but that's where it was! I'm pretty excited to go out there in the morning.

Your young gal is AMAZING! She found the box and figured it all out on her own!

Do you have fake eggs or golf balls/ping pong balls in the nesting boxes? They can help encourage chickens to lay where you want them to. Great to hear that she ended up laying in the nest box.

We have golf balls.

Wait come to think of it I have fake eggs too but they're large they're more like duck eggs size they're carved sandstone eggs from the Ivory Coast my husband bought me when we lived in South Florida.

I didn't use them. She just laid it in the right place. However I might salt the pot tomorrow.

Beautiful birds!

It's a little lighter than my Australorps laid so it COULD be one of the lavender orpingtons. You have several birds looking ready to lay!
I am betting you will see more eggs from additional birds this week!

One of the sapphire gems laid this beauty this morning. She was still sitting on it when I came in the coop and she stood up and there it was nice and shiny!
