Polly, my australorp, just laid her first egg at 18 weeks. It is small but perfect, and a lovely dark brown color. It's my first egg ever, too, and I am so excited I have called everyone I know to tell them... I feel like a kid, and I'm 46 years old! Do I need to refrigerate the egg right away? I'm only two eggs away from an omelette!

They're about 18 weeks...You don't need to refridgerate right away. Enjoy!

Congrats! You don't need to refrigerate at all, if that is your choice. The US is one of the few countries where people routinely refrigerate eggs.
They do age faster on the counter than in the frig. though. I leave them out on the counter if I plan on hard boiliing them. Makes em easier to peel.
