We chicks are 2 1/2 weeks old now and getting kind of bored in our brooder, so mommie threw in 2 worms to see what we would do. The worms WIGGLED! We thought maybe they were food, but our food never MOVED before! All 8 of us kind of side stepped around them for awhile. Then Hattie, who is always off by herself and very aloof, grabbed the wiggly thing and started running around trying to find a place to hide! Suddenly, the wiggly worm looked DELICIOUS and we all started chasing Hattie around like crazy! Over the roost, around the feed dish, around and around we went! Somebody finally grabbed the worm away from Hattie, and then we all chased THAT chick like crazy. Nobody knew what to do with the worm. It was a prize, but we didn't know why. Meanwhile, the other worm lazily streeeeetched around in the shavings and nobody even noticed. A worm is only SPECIAL if somebody has it in its BEAK! We were getting tired of playing tag so Fannie decided to SWALLOW the prize and our game was over. Fannie ate the second one, too. The rest of us ran to the food dish and had a snack. We like our food to sit still!
