Hello our Male was attacked by our neighbors dog 4 days ago, he has a huge gash in his mid range back area, and he hasn’t walked since, he can drag himself around and he can swim , but he can’t stand up since, does anyone know if maybe his back is broken? Or maybe his hip was displaced? I’m not sure and my husband wants to just take him out of his misery but he doesn’t seem in pain and he lives when his brothers and sisters come hangout with him so I’m not convinced he can’t live a decent life still! I need some opinions please on if anyone knows maybe what’s wrong with him ?! Or just opinions on the whole thing , also when he was swimming he got flustered when his sister came in the pool and ended up on his back and couldn’t get back up so I had to help him, here’s some videos of how his legs work

I'd give him time. His pelvis may be broken, or he may just be severely bruised. I would coat the wounds with antibiotic ointment, monitor for fly strike, and keep him from physical contact with flockmates. As long as he is eating, there is hope for recovery.

What is fly strike? He opens his mouth every time we go close to him , which I think is him being threatened since he can’t walk he’s afraid of everyone right now , he isn’t eating as much as I’d like him to, but he’s eating I believe , I need to keep track of exactly how much I think I will gate him in today away from his flock to see how much he eats because sometimes they eat his food so now I’m worried

Fly strike is the result of flies laying eggs in his wounds resulting in a maggot infestation. He's best kept away from physical interaction from his flock mates to assure that none harass or attempt to breed him. Yes, drakes will try that with injured drakes.
