Introducing Goldy~ we just can't be sure it's really a she! She's 13 weeks old, and we already had to send away her 4 crowing brothers, who were definitely boys, with big combs, the feathers, the attitude!

But Goldy we just don't know. She has no comb to speak of, but her body is so gangly and that long neck of hers... the brown one, we're pretty confident is a girl.

What do you think?

Aw, your Goldy looks just like my little Betty. Pretty sure Bett's a girl and she's only 11 weeks old. It's funny how these birds can be so diverse and yet so similar, though. Your little brown EE in the pictures with Goldy looks like my little Maggie! (Except Mags has a floofy-poofy beard, of course...)

Here's Bett in a recent picture:

And Mags if you were curious:

I say girl too. The picture is kind of far away but I don't see signs of saddle feathers coming in.

There's such a variance in growth patterns and "normal".

Our EE just laid her 100th egg yesterday. She's 8 months old. We had a cricket party last night. Her and her sisters had so much fun chasing those all over the yard. And they all looked so funny when they waddled off to bed with crops so full.

ETA -- On the long neck... both of mine have ostrich necks. My mom wishes they didn't, but I think they look so adorable when they stretch waaayy out!
