Hey there,

My husband built this mostly by himself over a few weeks, really quick work for his first project. We have gotten it livable for the chickens and now my girls are in there full time. They just figured out how to roost inside the coop on their own. Mama's so proud. LOL

Still to do, a door to close the coop off from the run (for colder months), a latch for the nesting box, and I have to do the watering system and build a feeder!

We accidentally put the coop near a sprinkler head in our yard (one of the bigger ones that sprays over 1/2 the yard) so we have a tarp to put over the end of the coop on watering day. We're in a drought so we can't water often so it isn't much of a problem...yet. LOL We're famous for building things on or near sprinkler heads, we did it with our garden and thought we had a gopher digging holes in the garden when it was, in fact, a sprinkler head trying to break through the 12" of dirt we had put on top of it.

Front door

Side view with door to coop, those pots need to be spray painted and then filled with basil, catnip, lavender, rosemary, mint and marigolds. We have an issue with biting flies and I heard that would scare them away. The girls live near the compost bin so there are lots of bugs near them for snacks. The blue stool is my visiting chair. The entire top of the coop, under the white corrugated roof, is hardware cloth so all the Texas heat goes right out the top. If it is too cold in the winter, I'll put a tarp over it.

Nesting box and future home of the watering system. I need to get off my bum and put it all together, I just haven't yet! Putting the coop near the neighbor's 8' fence does an awesome job of blocking bad weather, heavy winds and afternoon sun. I love that.

Some views inside the coop, their roost with their poop catcher under it. Not too big but perfect for just 3 hens. And a pic of all that hardware cloth on top. There's a temp/humidity gage inside and the coop has a nice breeze though it now. Not stuffy or stagnate at all.

Anyway, there it is, almost done, just a few details left and we're done! I think Hubby got the idea for this coop off the chicken tractor page on here, he just built it from seeing that one. It is about 4'x8'.
