Yes. We got the new female to befriend our 12 week old female African gosling. She was raised together with the pullets and now that the pullets are maturing I think they've lost interest in each other. Here is a pic of our 12 week old African.

Congrats on the new baby have you introduced yet? Looks like someone has taken a liking to the lil gosling. adorable pic.

The older goose (12 weeks old) runs from the baby. I'm worried about.
For some reason little gosling ducks and chicks terrify older of their species. lol let them be together as often as you can with supervision and I think eventually they will be come best friends. It just takes time plus your 12 week old has only been around chicks so she has an identity crisis Let her see herself in a mirror if you have one that hasn't sharp edges. I have a mirror hanging on the wall in my goose house 10X12 they love to look at themselves.

I think to a degree they "understand" their age? When Cas was a baby, he loved watching videos (and hearing) of baby geese, and loved playing with my friend's baby duck who is the same age. Now that he's older, he seems to prefer those that look more his size and age, than the babies, and he runs from my friend's duck! He also doesn't like her QUAAACK so I think some of it is how they sound too.

He loves looking in the bathroom mirror and "talking" to the other goose! I have also realized he has SOME degree of knowing that it's HIM in the mirror because last night when I held him up and pet his head while he looked, he turned around and looked at me, then back at the mirror, then back at me, then at the 'me' in the mirror. It was like I was watching his brain make the connection! Was really kinda neat to watch!

Geese are truly amazing creatures. I really believe they are probably the most intelligent of the waterfowl breeds.

With my limited experience with geese, I have already come to this conclusion, at least compared with ducks. I really like ducks, but geese are going to be better suited with where I live right now, and I think that is the case with most people.
