He has claimed both of our yards, the barn yard, and the 30+ acre pasture as his territory and makes darn sure to do "the rounds" every day doing his little squawk/wing flapping business. This morning, the roos were practicing their crowing (it sounds more like a really sad dog than a 10 week old rooster) and this guy must have felt they were infringing on his territory so he came across the yard and over to their pen to squawk back at them each time they crowed... sorry so blurry, I had to take them thru my windows as the doors are noisy and I didnt want to scare him off.

The neighbors raised them when my DH was little and released them, these are the offspring that have established themselves after 20 years. He thinks my Banty Cohin is his rival...its ridiculous! He comes up to eat grain when we feed the cows, just wont get within 100 ft of us.

Thats Funny! A "crow A Thon" Between The Indiginous Pheasant Cock And A Banny Cochin Adolescent Roo. I'd Die Laughing Just Watchin' The 2 Of 'em Go At It! Too Cool!

Ticks,

It is happening around my place. My three pheasants are running free, they stay with the chicks they were raised with, thus around the house. They put themselves to bed at night in their tractor pen too!

That's awesome! I hope they make it, a thing that is bad for the Pheasant in Vermont are the harsh winters. But with global warming that should be a distant problem.

I wish mine were smart enough to make it TO the Winter, they get picked off by predators like nobodies business.
