My 22 RIR pullets are almost seven weeks old. Last week I put them into their coop which is 15 x15 wooden shed with roosts, pine shavings and red light at night. I have two compact florescents to light up the coop during the day (no windows). There are two swinging doors, one has a doggie door cut into it that I slide a piece of metal to close and open it. They haven't been out of the coop yet and this weekend I want to let them out into their run which is about 50 x 50 fenced around the coop. Will they come back to their coop at night? I am afraid I won't be able to get them back in. I haven't given them any treats.

Ok I had this problem a while back, If the don't come in to the coop a night leave them there and they will eventually come into the coop. Is you coop well fenced? If not try to shoo them to the door.

hope this helps!

They are fenced in so I think they would be secure. I also have a fence around the property. But I do get opposums in the yard once in awhile. I just gave them some grapes but they just looked at them. I figure if I find something they like I can start an evening ritual.
