He's gotten suspended a few times from school but most all but one time was because he was defending himself.. We've tried to go up against the school to no avail.. So, we basically tell him to enjoy his vacation! He knows he will get in a lot of trouble if he starts something but I expect him to defend himself if someone hits him..
