How do you get chickens that roost in trees to start roosting in the coop? Every night we put them in to sleep, but they still stay outside to roost. Any tips?

I doubt you will be able to, unless you change your setup so they are locked into the run or yard during the day and the coop at night.

You have to make their coop and run their home. I took new chicks out at 3 weeks old and they stayed in their coop and run until they were 12 weeks old. Each evening i let them out for a couple of hours and they all go in each evening before dark without my help. I just close the run door before i go in.

Generally if you lock them up for a little while AND they have a roost that is high enough... then they will consider roosting in the coop. Otherwise you may have to lock them up for a very long while or trim away the lower branches roost tree of their current spot.

I'm dealing with the same issue. I'm going to try an lock them up for a straight week and see if that cures them. If not, I tried to help. Wrangling up chickens every night can get tiresome.
