We are terrible at this. This is the first year we have ordered chicks and had them shipped. From 27, we are down to 19. The hatchery says they were probably exposed to the cold along the route.
We want to plan out our flock, as well as drive to a hatchery 3 hours away to get what birds we might be "missing." Our intention is to have about ten new layers and fifteen meat birds.

This is what we ordered from the hatchery:
2 Columbian Wyandottes (f)
2 Barred Rock (f)
2 Buff Orpingtons (f)
2 Araucana (f)
And for the meat birds, which are all roosters:
Black Australorp, Black Star, Red Star, Light Brahmas, Dark Cornish, Black Giants, White Giants, NH and RI Red, White Orpington, Buff Orpington, Rocks: Barred, Buff, White, Partridge, Speckled Sussex, Turkens, Wyandottes: Columbian, Golden Laced, Silver Laced, and White.

Pictures to follow.

Yep. I was fighting with my laptop but I'm gonna post the pics I have on my phone

What hatchery are you getting your birds from? Just asking because most hatcheries actually sell Easter Eggers but call them Araucanas. Your first clue as to whether you have any true Araucanas in your batch is that they are actually a rumpless ( tailless) breed with feather tufts by their ears. Here is a link explaining the difference between Araucanas, Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers. It may help you to pick those chicks out of your bunch anyways..lol. http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2011/09/ameraucana-easter-egger-or-araucana.html
