I have a male ring neck who is a little over a year old and mean as hell.
Every time I go into the pen to feed and water he tries to bite and spur. He's really persistent too. So far has only landed one successful bite but he's been getting progressively braver.
Is there anything that can be done about this? Can this be corrected?
I'm pretty scared of him. Haha.
He's so beautiful though and I'd really hate to kill him. Would removing him from the female settle him down? Has anyone else had this happen with their pheasants?
Anyway, any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)

I have had males like this and I changed mine by going in with a spray bottle with a long squirt and when he they would approach I would spray them and they quickly learned not to bite any more.
Good Luck

No don't kill him!Get him a bunch of hens and he will produce lots of chicks for you.I find the more aggressive males are great breeders. At least 5 hens with this male will be a good breeding group.

I just hatched some chicks from him. I really don't want to kill him. I love him. I'm just frustrated with his aggression. Do you have any tips on how to stop the biting and spurring? He's mean and scares me. Haha.

When he comes after you catch and hold him for a while. If he thinks you are going to catch him everytime he comes after you maybe he will leave you alone. It may take a while and it may never happen but it's worth a try.

I don't know if this works on pheasants but it sure did work on a coule of my roosters. When he attacks BE READY and grab him. hold him upside down by his legs for 10 or 20 seconds them release. I 've not had to do this more than twice on a roo and usually once works fine. Good Luck
