My 3 embden goslings who just turned 3 weeks old yesterday have become very overly protective of "momma goose" while this isn't necessarily a bad thing for me it is for every other animal I own except the dog. I was hand feeding my ducks and the geese flocked around me and started their "yelling" at them and chased them. I try to correct their behavior by kind of pushing them away from them and saying NO but I can tell it really isn't working. I get really nervous when one of my cats is out in the yard and comes over to me because all 3 goslings attack him and while he's good with them and my ducks I'm afraid one day he might not be. He's a mean cat when he wants to be and I've had quite a few tussels with him. Is there anyway to correct this behavior or make them not so protective of me but of their "flock mates"?

I carry a long pole when out with dogs and geese, geese are bullies and if they get away with it will bully anything they can, my one dog had enough and got hold of the gander one day thank goodness she only got a mouth full of feathers. But I learned a hard lesson not to let this continue so Celtic Oaks mentioned about poles I took an old mop handle and when the geese start after the dogs I put the pole out between them and say back off or no it has worked great. they have to be reminded every once in a while though. PVC pipe would work too.

Do you think it would work if I did that with them and the ducks? They don't mind my dog. They actually will follow him around and go for walks with us its just every other animal it seems.

I think it would be worth a try, my geese bully the ducks but you need to be consistent with them, My goose likes to bully the 5 week old ducklings we have but every time she goes to chase them I step in between them and her. She then stops her behavior.

Alright sounds like a plan :) I'm sure I will be "yelled" at a lot haha

My geese don't yell at me, so not sure if I would want them too, Teach your geese while they are young to respect you as head goose. you first dog second ducks if they were there before geese are next then the geese, oh and cats fit in there before ducks,. let us know how it goes.

I call it yelling because that's what it looks like but they've done it from the first day I had them. I will deff be doing this. Don't want any mean geese. I will keep you updated :)
