I have a male duck that gets along fine with my rooster, unless the rooster is trying to jump on top of one of the hens. Then the duck gets aggressive and pecks at rooster until he gets off the hen. So is he protecting my hens or what's his deal? And what do I do about it?
Do you have any duck hens? It may be mating jealousy. If the drake starts breeding the chicken hens, he can injure them. Drakes have a penis - roosters do not. It may become necessary to separate the drake from the chickens.
