That flippin owl has been back twice now.

Last Friday he ate one of my best little white cockerels and left me a wing.

This morning as I went out to let the geese, ducks and most of the cockerels out of the pens I noticed that four of the five that sleep in a covered 4X4 box were out......

Yep, he got one of my wheaten roosters. I haven't been putting those roos in the covered pen because they are in an area where I thought the owl would not be able to get into, being he has around a 6-8 foot wing span.

I've warned my nice neighbors to keep their kitties in as this guy is going to get pretty hungry next week.

Sorry this happend to you

I lost one of my favorite mallards about 4 months ago to an owl. It's that chance we take leaving animals outside :\\ My friend lost his entire flock to what he thought was a raccoon. Something was crawling under the fence and killing 4 birds at a time. He killed a raccoon but the killing continued. He put a live trap where the hole was and it ended up being a barn own.

sorry this happened hope you figure out a way to have him let your birds alone ! I lost a hen to a dog this week right infront of me it was terrible .

Everyone is locked up tonight. The little cockerels have a net draped over their little cubby and a block of wood covering the entry hole.

The bigger cockerels are all inside my goose laying boxes. They also have blocks of wood covering their entry holes. It's raining, so I put them in there instead of a run so they wouldn't get soaked all night.

Also I put a "driveway patrol" unit out by the roosters. It will sound an alarm if anything goes by the electronic eye. It also blinks red like the niteguard thing they sell for $39.95.

Take that you varmit.
