Oyster Shell

Quote:
I put a pile of oyster shell out on the ground in a sheltered location. Every time I put a new pile out, my roo is sure to point it out to the girls. He goes over and starts his treat noise. I've never seen him eat a piece himself, he just lets the girls know it's there.
ETA: I'm currently paying 20 cents a pound for the OS at the farmer's co-op.
I believe adding any supplement to their feed is inviting the chickens to bill out their feed on the ground in search of the oyster shell, scratch, what-have-you. Just MHO.

I also like to feed it separately so I can sort of keep an eye on their consumption.
