Don't make it difficult! Crack the egg, save the shell, crush it a little smaller if you want, but I never have and haven't had an egg eater in 20 years, toss it in the run. Oyster shell, just toss it in the run. It's much more natural for a bird to scratch around for food vs eating it from a little dish. They really don't eat very much, so it may seem like they're not eating any. It doesn't take much for strong shells.
