Hi everyone. My girls are presently almost 15 weeks old now. I have one that I'm pretty sure will start laying any time now. She has a very red comb and started to squat yesterday. Can I put out oyster shell or should I wait for an egg? I presently have them on grower ration.

I put out oyster shell at exactly 16 weeks. At 16 weeks and 2 days I got my first egg! I did find soft eggs earlier than that so I'd say put it out!

OK thank you. That wont hurt my girls at all? Will they only eat it if they need it or am I taking a chance giving calcium before they need it?

Put the oyster shell in a separate feeder.

Your girls will mature at different times.

Given a free choice, it will be eaten by those that need it.
