pack and play for chick house

I heard that you can use a pack and play for chick house, baby chicks, how is that done? On bottom place shavings and over the top a piece of wood, playwood etc., and have the mesh that are on all the sides for air., is that enough air, or what are ideas of doing that, use of the play yard, can it go out in the hen house

I put cardboard in the bottom of the pack and play, then added some pine shavings. I didn't really have much to cover the top with so I sat a piece of hardwire cloth and the lid from the plastic tote that I was brooding them in. (it took both to have enough to cover it

) I have them out on our screened in porch.
hmmm....I haven't thought about putting it in the coop/run with the big chickens though. I'd like to see if anyone else had done it.
