I just ordered 10 day old pullets from Ideal. I know they'll use peanuts but Im wondering how many and will they all be boys? I dont mind a couple but am I going to get 6 roosters? what's average? TIA!!

The peanuts are generally roos, sometimes a pullet sneaks in there by mistake but... with Ideal you can buy "insurance" for $1 or $2 I believe and not get any extras- with the heat everyone is having, I think you would be just fine, you just don't need them for warmth- and call them, they may send fewer anyway with the heat... I got 17 from Ideal in March when it was cold and did not ask for insurance, got no extra roos.... so 10 may be enough now!

I am not positive you will need any packing peanuts with 10 day olds.
I had a replacement shipment of 15 one day olds with no peanuts.

Just give them a call and they will be happy to tell you. They have great customer relations. I always deal with Shannon. She is great and quite helpful.

When I ordered mine, I specified that I didn't want any peanuts. Out of 20 birds one turned out to be a Roo. Their guarantee is 90%
